Readership Poll: I Want You!

Arsenic and Old Lace is without doubt my most favorite Hallowe'en movie.
imdb
I adore Frank Capra, Cary Grant, and Peter Lorre, and this movie is as soothing to me during Hallowe'en as a chocolate binge is to others.  When I am in no mood for scary movies, the completely unhinged behavior of Mortimer Brewster as his wackadoo family increasingly befuddles him always makes me happy and gets me in the holiday spirit.

Likewise, The Evil Dead Marathon I went on a couple of Hallowe'ens back with my roommate, sweetheart + friend fills me with nostalgia and warm fuzzies...and grosses me out a little as is appropriate.

So, my lovelies, what I want to know is: what is your favorite Hallowe'en movie and why?  Let's discuss and perhaps have a vote on the Ultimate Best Hallowe'en Flick in a day or two.

Historical Note: As pumpkins are native to North America, Celtic Hallowe'en celebrators actually used turnips for their jack-o-lanterns.  My questions is, how?  I kind of want to experiment with turnips...

I will always go for any good Hitchcock thriller but I'd have to say that "Psycho" is my ideal pick for Halloween night (or any night with a thunderstorm and some hot cider).
"Young Frankenstein" is fantastic too depending on whether you want to scare or laugh your socks off.

Ooh, Young Frankenstein is a good one! The first scene in the classroom is my favorite.

And would you believe I've never seen Psycho? It's kind of embarrassing that I haven't, but hotel showers already scare me and I'm afraid I'd never be the same again if I watched it.

Meghan you need to see Psycho! It's amazing.

I am torn between Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, Roman Polanski's, Rosemary's Baby, and the 1976's classic, The Omen. I love them all, but after 30 seconds of thinking about it I would have to say my favorite number one Halloween movie is, The Shining.

That movie is just creepy and I love it. Jack Nicholson was absolutely brilliant in that!

I wish I liked "Arsenic and Old Lace!" I also like "Psycho", but that is my Valentine's Day movie every year. (No joke.) I think an old Twilight Zone marathon would be perfect for this Halloween!

OK, now I'll admit it. I haven't seen "Arsenic and Old Lace". I should be shunned as a film critic!

So I was just sitting here thinking, "I DO watch a movie every Halloween... now, what was it?"
Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Duh.

Oh, golly. Where to begin? I love Evil Dead 1 and 2, but I also have to say my favorites are Abbott and Costello's two halloween offerings, "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein" and "Hold That Ghost!" especially as Meet Frankenstein included Lon Chaney Jr., Bela Lugosi, and Vincent Price as the voice of the Invisible Man. A classic tale with all the great monsters!

I'm also a fan of "Arsenic and Old Lace". I usually watch the old Disney movie "Watcher in the Woods" (not a cartoon), "The Shining" and a bunch of Hitchcock films. My recent movie pick is "Vacancy". Also, I adore "The Ghost of Mr. Chicken" starring Don Knotts.

Haha! My plot worked! I now have an awesome list of excellent Hallowe'en recommendations to view. Suckers!

Sorry, my friends, I am in a really weird mood.
